CANADIAN THANKSGIVING

Do you know what is incredibly difficult to find this time of year? Yup... a turkey. And why, given that several million people are celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend? Mostly because we're in the wrong country at the moment and this place won't be celebrating their Thanksgiving for another month and a half.

Regardless, Kendrah and I were determined to celebrate our own Thanksgiving, turkey, or no turkey. And, despite sleeping till 4 pm today after a rather late night, we put together a delicious meal. Chicken (our quick and easy solution to the elusive turkey), sweet potatoes, corn, homemade stuffing (excellent recipe...thanks to Mr Allen, of course!) and my granny's own yummy broccoli and bacon salad.

I think we have enough leftovers for a week.

Now we lie here, sleepy and satiated. And there is still a cherry cheesecake for dessert. I'm stuffed to the point of nausea. Ah, just like Thanksgivings at home.

This is the best-looking chicken I've ever made -crispy skin and all! Guess if I can make one that tastes this good (surprisingly, no sketchy-pink patches looking suspiciously undercooked) I really have no excuse not to cook at home occasionally, huh? And the stuffing was delicious -pineapple, and sausage and onions, oh my!

The finished product. Not too shabby for two girls who claim
cooking is beyond their grasp.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone back home!
Hope you have a fantastic holiday weekend.

Oh wow! That looks like some incredible food! Well done! I'm settling for a piece of pumpkin pie and a big glass of gin! The sad thing is that this is the second year I've done this...

I'll be thinking of you while indulging in my leftover turkey sandwich today for lunch.
